Terra Industries located in Courtright Ontario recently completed a major plant turnaround. The majority of the work was focused around the replacement of the Ammonia plant "Make Gas Cooler" system which supplies all the process gas for the production of fertilizers. The large vessel weighing in excess of 200 Ton was pre-assembled in close proximity to the existing structure and erected during a planned plant outage. This assembly required extensive heavy wall welding coupled with critical engineered lifting procedures. With the hard work of members of UA local 663 the project was completed on time and incident free. Terra Industries now has a new lease on life.
